Our retreats

Three ways to retreat.

Private, adults-only Sunshine Coast wellness retreats for one person or one couple, with time to rest at the heart of every stay.

Every stay begins the same way.

Deb pouring tea on a balcony overlooking the sea

Your own apartment in our Maroochydore beachside base, a personal welcome from Deb or Ian, and plenty of unstructured time.

Each retreat has its own rhythm. Your stay is shaped around the retreat you choose, its length and what we learn about you before you arrive.

The beach retreat places more emphasis on bodywork and restorative experiences; the counselling retreat includes regular one-to-one counselling; and the holistic retreat centres on Ayurveda, meditation and traditional wellbeing practices.

Choose your starting point.

Three different focuses, not three sizes. Every retreat is personalised, and suitable elements can be combined. Not sure? We can recommend one. If stress or burnout is what’s driving this, start with retreats for stress and burnout.

Explore the Holistic Retreat

We’ll shape the retreat for you.

  1. Tell us about you

What you’re looking for, what interests you and what you hope to get from your time away.

  2. We create your retreat plan

Deb or Ian put together a personalised plan for your stay, setting out what’s included and the price.

  3. Make it right for you

Review it, ask for changes, and add extra experiences if there’s something you particularly want. Nothing is booked until you decide.

What you choose tells us what appeals to you. Deb or Ian take it from there and shape the stay around it.

Enough support that it matters. Enough freedom that it still feels like a retreat.

Whichever retreat you choose, your days aren’t a timetable. There’s time to sleep in, walk the beach, swim, use the sauna, sit on the balcony or courtyard, read, or do nothing at all. More on movement and fitness, fasting and cleansing interests, and choosing a length.

  1. Arrive and settle

Find your bearings and ease into the coast.

  2. Find your rhythm

A slow morning, the beach, and whatever your plan includes.

  3. Leave some room

Read, rest, or enjoy an afternoon without plans.

  4. A gentle last morning

Time to take it with you, with a departure conversation if you’d like one.

An illustration, not a timetable.

A few things you may be wondering.

How long has Beach Health Retreat been operating?

Beach Health Retreat has welcomed guests on the Sunshine Coast since 2010. Deb and Ian personally plan and host private retreats for one person or one couple, continually evolving their approach around guest needs.

What happens before I arrive?

Your plan is agreed with you first, and very little is asked of you beyond that. Preparing for your retreat sets out the four steps from enquiry to arrival, what is worth packing, how to get here and what the first day is usually like.

What happens after I go home?

Nothing automatic: there is no follow-up programme and no mailing list. After your retreat is honest about what tends to last, what usually does not, and what can be arranged from home if you would like to keep going.

Who is a retreat here for?

Adults looking for relaxation and rest, relief from stress, recovery from burnout, time out from everyday demands, space for their emotional wellbeing, a lifestyle reset, or an unhurried holistic stay by the sea. It is a private wellbeing retreat, not a hospital, an inpatient facility, a crisis service or a medical clinic, and it doesn’t diagnose or treat health conditions. If that is the kind of time away you are after, tell us what you’re looking for and we will suggest a shape for it.

Is this a group retreat, or can I come alone or as a couple?

It is always private: one person, or one couple, and never a group. Solo guests and couples are equally normal here. The apartments sit in a beachside resort with other residents and guests, so its pools, spa, sauna and grounds are shared — and open to you throughout your stay during the property’s normal opening hours.

Is the retreat adults only?

Yes. Beach Health Retreat is an adults-only retreat, for one person or one couple at a time. Quiet is a large part of why people come, and keeping the retreat adults-only is how we look after it.

Do you sell fixed packages, or do I design the retreat myself?

The two-night beach retreat gives you a starting point, and you don’t have to design anything yourself. Tell us what you’re hoping for and what interests you, and Deb or Ian write a flexible retreat plan for you, with the price set out before you decide. You can review it, ask for changes and add extras before anything is booked. In the planner you can also choose a customised mix to draw on more than one pathway, or start from “I’m not sure yet” and we’ll suggest a shape.

How are the three retreats different?

Each is a starting point, personalised around you, in the same private beachside apartments. The Private Personalised Beach Retreat is about rest, bodywork, coastal experiences and plenty of freedom. The Counselling & Personal Reset Retreat puts regular one-to-one counselling at the centre. The Holistic & Alternative Retreat puts Ayurveda and traditional wellbeing practice at the centre, drawing on Ian’s background, with bodywork, meditation and time in nature around it. Suitable elements can be combined.

Is there a set schedule?

No. A few things are placed through your stay, with plenty of free time for rest, the beach, the pool and the sauna.

Are meals included?

If you choose them. Main meals from local providers can be part of your retreat, or you can self-cater in your apartment kitchen. Your choice is reflected in your retreat plan and price. Read about food.

Who provides counselling, massage and bodywork?

Deb Pepperdine or Ian Trew, with the practitioner and approach agreed when you plan your stay. Counselling is not part of every retreat: it can be central, as on the Counselling & Personal Reset Retreat, an optional addition, or left out entirely. Massage and non-invasive bodywork can be included in the same way.

Can I use the pool, spa and sauna?

Yes, as often as you like. The two heated pools, the spa and the sauna are open to guests during the property’s normal opening hours, with nothing to book and nothing extra to pay. They are shared with other residents and guests. Deb or Ian can also prepare the sauna and introduce you to it as part of your retreat.

Do I have to try fasting?

No. Fasting is never part of a stay unless you ask about it, and suitability is considered before anything is recommended. How food and fasting interests are handled.

Can I choose a particular apartment?

Tell us your preference, including whether you’d like a comfortable or a premium apartment. Apartments vary, and your apartment is confirmed in your retreat plan. See the apartments.

Where is the retreat?

At 70–78 Alexandra Parade, Cotton Tree, Maroochydore, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast between Brisbane and Noosa, across the road from the beachside park and Maroochydore Beach. Ask about a Sunshine Coast Airport transfer when you enquire.

What does it cost?

From AUD $1,400 for one guest, for the full two-night Private Personalised Beach Retreat. Your two-night stay includes your own private 4-star apartment, one massage per guest, a hosted experience in the shared Sundeck Gardens sauna, a coastal or nature experience, and meditation or breathwork. Deb and Ian plan your retreat personally, welcome you and check in during your stay, with unhurried time between experiences to enjoy the beach and make yourself at home. Accommodation, these wellbeing experiences and personal hosting are all included in the starting price. Hosted experiences are shared for couples. Meals are excluded; self-cater in your apartment or ask about arranged meals at additional cost. Optional extras are at additional cost, subject to availability. Subject to apartment availability; your personalised quote confirms all inclusions and the total price before you book. Other retreat pathways and longer stays are quoted individually.

What happens about deposits and cancellations?

Your retreat plan sets out the inclusions and the price before anything is booked, and the payment and cancellation arrangements for your stay are confirmed with you at that point. No payment is taken on this website, and sending an enquiry commits you to nothing.

Does the planner send an enquiry?

Yes. Your answers go to Deb and Ian by email. It isn’t a booking: they’ll be in touch to talk it through, and your retreat plan comes before anything is booked. You can also email snh.enquiries@gmail.com or call 0402 130 552.
