Beach Health Retreats main Ayurvedic therapist is Ian Trew.
Ian has been passionately involved with the Ayurvedic movement in Australia since its inception in the late 80’s. Ian was a fellow and founding member of the Sunshine Coast Vedic and Cultural Association in the mid 1990′s and has working in the area of personal health for both government and privately for over 20 years now. Ian has been practicing holistic counselling, Ayurveda and involved with offering customised health retreat programs on the Sunshine Coast since 1999. During this time, Ian has maintained a deepening study and heart felt involvement with Ayurveda, organising many and varied ranges of yoga, seminars, lectures, demonstrations, film nights and kirtans.
Ian undertook Ayurveda study before it was available in Australia as an optional part of his degree in Health Sciences (major psychology & religious studies). Further Ayurvedic studies were then undertaken by US based David Frawley and later with Dr. Krishna Kumar (F.I.I.M.,M.D.(Alt Med.)M.A. the director of the Australian School of Ayurvedic Medicine (Australia’s first, and until recently only recognised course in Ayurveda). Ian also completed the first 2 year Diploma of Ayurveda offered in Australia at Southern Cross University by A.T.M.A. Further varied studies and personal consultation training was completed with a range of world class leading Ayurvedic Doctors including Professor P.H. Kulkarni (BAMS, F.I.I.M., M.D., PH.D., D.Sc.(Ayu)F.C.M.P.), Dr Ajit, Rama Prasad (BAMS), Dr Sudesh Mukh BAMS and Dr Abhay Kulkarni M.D. (Ayurveda).
